Here’s her step by step tutorial on how to make a hanging book holder.

Best thing about this is that it doesn’t take up floor space like a traditional book shelf does. We need all the floor space we can get in our daughter’s room.

Thanks so much Jennifer! This is a project that both my husband and I can do. Most of the time he’s not that into my sewing projects. He’ll be happy when I tell him this project requires a trip to the hardware store :)

Now that the holiday season is upon us and people are starting to celebrate with family and friends, I have spent some time looking for something Pink Panda can wear. It will be her 2nd Christmas (and New Year) this year and hopefully she will be able to celebrate with us (she was sleeping for the most part last year).

Here is a cute Audrey Hepburn – ish dress I found by Sarita Baby in the Flickr Group. Every girl needs a LBD!

This week’s project inspiration comes from Little_Pink_Button

Another doll project but this time it’s a pin cushion! Ok it can be used as a doll too when pins aren’t stuck into them.

Our daughter would love these and I can imagine her carrying them around in a bucket — she carries everything around in a bucket — even the beloved “Bear Bear”.

Pin Cushion by Little_Pink_Button

Made out of a Kokka fabric we used to carry (I think she purchased the last piece actually way back when ), it never occured to me that I could make something from the large print. Then again I only sew straight lines so the dolls heads may have be severed in the pin cushion making process.

One of my 2010 resolutions is to take more classes at The Sewing Studio so I can make things other than blankets (even then the stitching isn’t always straight) — like pin cushions or little bean bags!

Check out the quilt too that she made out of a fat quarter bundle we used to carry (I’ll be posting a new Tina Givens fat quarter bundle soon — we just ran out of the print with the pink dots and bird silhouette). The trim she added makes it even more sweet – totally something I would love to have for my daughter. Ok who am I kidding, I’d like this for myself! How many fat quarter bundles would it take to make an adult size quilt?

It’s beginning to look alot like Christmas…..

and I have JUST started getting gifts ready (making some, purchasing some) with only a few weeks left to go. My 19 month old has discovered dolls and now must carry around a little Polar Bear doll everywhere with her.

The attachment is so strong that in the middle of the night if he happens to roll out of her arms, she’ll wake up and we hear her on the baby monitor crawling around the crib and shouting “Bear Bear? Bear Bear? Bear Bear!”. Once he’s back in her arms, there’s a few seconds of silence and then back to snoring she goes (oh yes, she snores!!)

I found these dolls from the flickr group and thought one would be great for the Pink Panda if she didn’t have such a strong attachment to her bear! I love the fact that the dolls have ponytails and buns and are quietly sitting in a basket! One of them resembles her too — what little girl doesn’t want a doll that looks like them?

Dolls by Crazy Baby Accessories

For parents that have gone through this stage, how do you deal with it? Do you buy multiples of the same doll? Do you try to introduce other dolls so you can wash them when they get dirty? This bear goes everywhere – I mean it has to sit beside her for meals, has to watch her during bath time, has gone on vacation with us and when I tried putting him in the washing machine she stood there watching him get covered with soap suds and cried for the entire wash cycle!

Obviously I don’t mind getting the same doll for her (in case something happens to the original — you know a lost limb or a missing eye) but it was given to us by a family member last year during Valentine’s Day and the store where it was purchased is no longer selling the bear. I’ve tried introducing another white bear but for some reason she insists that she have the original one. How does she know the difference?

This week’s project inspiration is from Quilting Barbie
Last week was something for grown ups, and now this week, something for your home! A table runner. This one is a great way to use smaller pieces of fabrics (or even scraps).
Thanks for the inspiration. What have you made for your home? We’d like to see.

Now if the weather was a bit warmer here in our part of the country (although today is quite warm — a balmy 18C in November — not sure how long this will last but we’re loving it!) then we’d whip one up and wear it!
