Have a sewing question? Ask and win $100!

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

As promised, we have a new giveaway this month. Lovesewing Magazine is the only online sewing magazine focusing on fashion and style.

We are giving away a $100 gift certificate for next month’s Ask and Win column.

The founder of the magazine, Denise, is also the owner of The Sewing Studio where I took the Quick Start course this past summer. It was so much fun I’m going to sign up for another one later this year (I hear there will be online courses too being offered for those not in the GTA).

This is the place where I fell in love with the Janome sewing machine (which I still haven’t purchased as the Singer from the 70s still has a bit of life in it!) and hope to be able to buy one for myself sometime this year.

The online magazine is great for sewists of all levels. They have a Sewing 101 section, a Fabric 101 column and a Get Inspired section – two pages showcasing what other designers are doing.

Ok, happy reading everyone and good luck!

December’s Gift Certificate winner: Sara D

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

Oh we have been tardy on this post but here’s the winner for our monthly contest for December 2009.

Sara D from Saskatchewan answers our questions:

1. What do you love about living in SK?
I love the casual lifestyle and the fact that the cost of living is low enough that I can stay home and raise our children (and sew).

2. Who’s your favourite fabric designer (don’t feel pressured to name one in store!)
Right now I’m obsessed with Anna Maria Horner’s Folksy Flannels and Little Folks lines of fabric.  (Any plans to bring these in?)

3. Do you have a secret stash of fabrics that no one else but you knows about? If so, what are you planning to do with it?
Of course, my sewing room cupboards are overflowing – my husband recently became acquainted with some of this when hunting for a tape measure!  I almost never buy fabric with a specific purpose in mind so I tend to accumulate a lot.  I’m expecting our second child soon, so I’ve been sewing a lot of baby stuff lately.

Congrats Sara! Especially on the soon to be baby #2! We love babies over here :)

*We promise to be more prompt at announcing the winner next month!

** We will be bringing in 6 prints from Anna Maria Horner’s Folksy Flannels line in March 2010! Visit our Coming Soon page to see which ones will be in stock.

October 2009 Monthly Contest Winner: Tammy

Monday, November 9th, 2009

Congrats to Tammy from British Columbia – she’s our winner for our monthly $20 gift certificate giveaway!

Here’s a bit more about Tammy:

1. What do you like/love about living in BC?

I love BC because it has everything! Mountains, ocean, desert, tons of lakes, forests… its beautiful here!

2. Who’s your favourite fabric designer (don’t feel pressured to name one in store!)

My favorite fabric right now is Moda’s Arcadia. I love, love, love it!! I am a ‘little bit’ of a fabric addict, so I have quite a few favorites!

3. Do you have a secret stash of fabrics that no one else but you knows about? If so, what are you planning to do with it?

I have some Joel Dewberry fabric put aside, that I am planning to make a new purse, for myself, out of!

Congrats again, Tammy and hope to see a pic of your purse soon over here.

See you all next month when we announce November’s winner! Happy sewing!
